Our 2017 Pay It Forward Contest Winners are in!

All of us here at Port Richmond Savings would like to thank all those who entered this contest and by doing so, have given us the opportunity to "Pay It Forward" onto you and the causes so dear to your hearts. Thank you. Don't forget to pick up our 2017 calendar in November, highlighting all of these great efforts.

 

1. Tiffany was nominated for her efforts to raise money for the Dimes For Downs organization, a non-profit aiming to raise money to grant wishes of children and adults with Down Syndrome. Port Richmond Savings is happy to give you $100 in dimes to pass along Tiffany!

2. The Jones Family will use $100 towards buying bags from a group of women working hard in Haiti to lift their families out of poverty. The bags are to be sold here in the States for the women. Visit www.povertyresolutions.org for more information and to get yourself a bag!

3. The family of Ryne would like to donate $100 towards the Philadelphia Autism Walk, which they will take part in this fall. They walk to support their own brave superhero Ry, as well as raise awareness and money for the cause and help not only Ry but all people living with autism.

4. Our Lady of Port Richmond's "Catholic High School Starter Scholarship Program" is designed to "pay it forward" to the families of 10 eighth graders each year. The Program awards $2,000 to these 10 students to help them continue their Catholic education. PRS is happy to contribute.

5. The organization Holy Terror S.T.A.R.S is a program that aims to offer sports and other activites for children with special needs in a supportive atmosphere. MSC Corporate and assocaties has sponsored a Christmas program for the group for many years, playing Santa and giving gifts from the kids' Christmas lists. They will use the money to help fund the food and beverages that are needed to serve the families at the Christmas party!

6. Ryan was nominated for all the ways he "pays it forward" to the local PPD and PFD. He often shows his appreciation by dropping off cakes and other goodies to our local heroes. Thanks Ryan! We are pleased to aid in your efforts.

7.  Lakeside School is a school that provides alternative education to students who need a smaller, more structured and nurturing therapeutic environment than your traditional public school. Every Thanksgiving, the staff donates money to provide turkey dinners to their students' families who may be struggling financially and will use the $100 towards this effort!

 

8.  Patty Pace would like to donate the $100 to Faithful Friends Animal Society in Wilmington, De. She is currently fostering 5 kittens that someone dumped out of their car on side of the road. Faithful Friends is providing medical care and spaying/neutering all the kittens and the only compensation they receive is the adoption fee when they are ready to go to new homes. Great idea Patty!

9. Mike Remaker would like to "Pay it Forward" to the Red Cross who helps so many people in need from disaster relief, with lifesaving blood, and with training and certifications. Absolutely Mike.

10. Mark Cichonski and the fine folks at Cheers bar like to help the family who started Chistmas Angel every year at Christmas time. Christmas Angel helps all the needy families in the neighborhood get what they need during the oftentimes overwhelming holiday season. Find Christmas Angel on Facebook for more information.

11. Owen, Adelaide, and Callie R. take part in Operation Christmas Child at their church every year. They get to fill a shoebox with handpicked Christmas gifts, and then the package is sent to a child in need somewhere in the world. Happy Shopping guys!

12. Marylou Leuters of The Ladies of Port Richmond was nominated for her continued support on her efforts to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Awareness, Education, Research, and hopefully a Cure in our lifetime. The $100.00 will go towards Breast Cancer research.
